Lord Shri Krishna - Krishna, The Ultimate Object of Knowledge

Lord Krishna exemplifies the meaning of life, the subtle workings of creation, and the understanding of a self- realized soul. He spoke of the science of yoga in all its forms-the path of work, the path of knowledge, the path of mysticism, the path of devotion. The purpose of performing sacrifices is to please Him, yoga is for realizing Him and all fruitive activities are ultimately rewarded by Him only.
Krishna, The Ultimate Object of Knowledge He is supreme knowledge and all severe austerities are performed to know Him. He is the supreme goal of life. The name Krishna means the "all-attractive person". So Krishna is a person and we are also people, but Krishna is the supreme person. The is one Vedic verse: "Nitya Nityanam Cetanas Cetananam", it means Krishna is the singular person who is supplying all necessities to all other persons. We are samples of Krishna, tiny infinitesimal particles of Krishna.

Krishna is eternal, He has no beginning or end, and we are also eternal, we have no beginning or end. Our bodies are temporary things. The bodies are born at a certain point in time, the bodies get old and ultimately they will die. We are changing our body all the time, we start with a child's body, then we get a boy's body, then we get a man's body, then an old man's body and then we have to leave this body. So the body is always changing, but the soul remains the same. The soul is the passenger in the machine of the body. Krishna describes this in the Bhagavad-gita as

"Dehino 'Smin Yatha Dehe, Kaumaram Yauvanam Jara, Tatha Dehantara-Praptir,
Dhiras Tatra Na Muhyati"

"As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change."

Therefore the purpose of our life here is not to try and make a comfortable arrangement for things connected to the temporary body. Our eyes always want to see something very beautiful, the tongue wants to taste very delicious foods, the hands want to touch something nice, soft, our genitals want to be satisfied by sex life. These are the demands of the body. To some extent we have to fulfill the bodily demands, but that is not the main purpose of human life. The main purpose of human life is to get off the bodily platform and understand, "I am not this body, I am the spirit soul, I am the person within and my business is to serve Krishna."

Krishna, The Ultimate Object of Knowledge We have to reestablish our original consciousness. Our original consciousness is Krishna consciousness, our real consciousness. In our original consciousness we are in our original position which is eternal, full of knowledge and ananda full of bliss. That is our real nature. But we have come here to this material world and have taken on these material bodies which are exactly the opposite. The spiritual full of knowledge, but here our bodies are full of ignorance, we don't know anything here. The other thing is this material world is nirananda, instead of it being ananda, full of pleasure, it is full of anxiety. Everybody knows it, we are full of anxiety at every moment. But this is not the natural position of the soul, his position is to be in full bliss, but if one is full of anxiety where is the bliss? So we can't be happy here in the material world.

Life is meant to be centered around serving Krishna. But that's not all, we have to show people you can be happy serving Krishna. It is a joyful thing. Even someone could be doing an ordinary job and giving the fruits of his labor to Krishna. That's the joy of Krishna consciousness. The main thing is to always remember Krishna and to never forget Krishna. If we can do that, if we can always remember Krishna and never forget Krishna that is the perfection of Krishna consciousness. So we have to make changes in our life to enable us to always remember Krishna and never forget Krishna.
