Rama
Avatar:
Lord Rama, the most famous incarnation of God, appeared on Rama-navami. He
is known as Maryada Purusottama and is the emblem righteousness. His life
and teachings of morality are as relevant for us today as when He appeared
nearly 20 million years ago.
Sita-devi:
She is the most famous Goddess in history. The story of Her birth,
marriage, exile, abduction, agni-pariksha (fire ordeal), and banishment is
not only known and loved in India, but throughout the world. The story of
Sita has captured the hearts of over a billion people. To this day she is
India's most favorite goddess.
Narasimha Avatar:
In the Cycle of Incarnations of Vishnu ascending, as he does, from the
lowest and less complicated forms of life to the amphibians to wild animals
and then higher mammals till he finally reaches the stage of Man, one of the
interesting pit stops is the Narasimha Avatar, neither man nor lion but a
curious amalgamation of both, with all the virtues and almost none of the
drawbacks of each species.
Lord Dhanvantari :
The origins of the ancient healing science known as Ayurveda are lost in
cosmic antiquity. This healing science is generally revealed by great sages
or demigods. Occasionally, the Supreme Lord Himself descends as the avatar
(incarnation) Dhanvantari and re-inaugurates the tradition of Ayurveda. This
extremely rare appearance of God is recorded in the Vedic literature of
ancient India.
Lord Dattatreya:
Lord Dattatreya, the avatar of Lord Visnu, descended today on the full moon
day of Magha to bless His devotees. His astounding form and pastimes are
described very authoritatively in the Vedic literature which clear away all
the myths that have grown up around this divine form of Lord Vishnu.
Rukmini:
And even among all of Lord Krishna's sixteen thousand Queens, Srimati
Rukmini- devi is His most beloved one. Indeed the Skanda-purana declares, "Rukmini
is in Dvaraka what Radha is in the forest of Vrindavana.
